Taylor Swift Interview for Double Page Spread
Double page spread interview for magazine
Red Tour
Q: ‘Red’ is such
an interesting name for an album. I’m sure loads of people are very curious as
to why you named your album ‘Red’.
A: When I was
coming up with the name for this album it seemed crazy because it was really
simple. I wrote a song called ‘Red’ and thinking about what that song means to
me and all the different emotions on this album they’re all pretty much about
the tumultuous, crazy, insane, intense, semi-toxic relationships I’ve
experienced in the last two years and all those emotions fanning from intense
love, intense frustration, intense jealousy, confusion, all of that in my mind,
all those emotions are red. There’s nothing in between, there’s nothing beige
about those feelings and so I called my record that.
Q: When you’re
singing ‘Sparks Fly’ (from the Speak Now Album) you walk through the crowd.
Some lucky fans get a high five from you! But is it scary having thousands of
fans trying to reach you?
A: No. You know,
you get scratched a little bit, but that's nothing to be scared of. It's really
cool to be able to travel through the entire crowd and sort of surprise people
who didn't think they were going to get up close to a performance – I think
that's one of my favourite things about having a stage in different parts. It's
kind of exhilarating actually, walking through a crazy, insane mob of people.
Q: After the Speak Now
tour, this one even seems a little bigger. You have the levitating and the
Victorian dresses and the chandeliers. Did you have a specific way of thinking
on what this tour would be like?
A: I did,
actually. I thought a lot about how this tour was going to be different from
the Speak Now tour. When I was conceptualizing this tour from the very
beginning, I thought about how if these two shows were to exist in two
different worlds, I picture the Speak Now tour existing in a Midsummer Night's
Dream/Romeo and Juliet-inspired fantasy land, and I picture this taking place in
New York City. And so you've got high intensity excitement and you've got the
darkness of all of it and you've got all the fleeting moments of reality, and
it's a little bit less of a fairy tale.
Fashion
Q: Let’s talk
fashion! You used to wear dresses almost all the time- not complaining I love
your dresses but now it’s all about pants! Why?
A: I think doing
something that's different, that's out of your comfort zone is important. Personal
growth, let's call it that.
Q: Your red carpet style has really evolved over
the years. What's your favorite look of all time?
A: I wore a gown to the Brits [in February] that was a black [Elie Saab]
dress, and it had a belt, and I had a smoky makeup
Q: What style tip would you share with our readers?
A: I feel bossy telling people what to do, but I
think the best option for what to wear is something that won't make you cringe
in 20 years, like passing trends. When everybody's wearing neon, I'm not. When
everybody's got spikes on everything, I'm not doing that. When everybody's
trying to look tough, I'm not. When you ignore fads and just wear what you like
that's classic and simple, I think that's the way to go for longevity as far as
style is concerned.
Boys
Q: Most of your songs are boy related. How would
you describe your approach to men?
A: I’ve realized that I’m attracted to bad boys. My friends tease me about the fact
that if someone seems bad or shady or like they have a secret, I find them
incredibly interesting. That's just a phase I've been in
lately.
Q: On to the question that has been on
everyone’s mind. Are you currently in a relationship?
A: [Laughs] I haven't been [in a relationship]
in a long time. I'd like to think if you're with the right person, you just
feel great about things you've never felt great about before. At least that's
how I've heard it's supposed to be. I wouldn't know."

Preliminary task: Evaluation
Preliminary Task: Evaluation
I believe that I created my school/ college magazine ‘Hampstead
Monthly’ quite well since it follows the codes and conventions of a magazine. I
have included a mast head, cover lines which relate to the school, main image,
the date and issue, a bar code, price tag and a website and for my contents page
I made the font of the page number bigger and in a different colour and I also
added other images into my contents page. I stuck with the same theme colour of
black, red and white since that was the most popular answer in the
questionnaire and it is the colour of our school.
My school/ college magazine is quite formal because of the
target audience. The target audience is teachers and students in the school so
the writing and font is quite simple and my model on the cover is wearing
smart, casual clothing to represent the school. The mast head is a bright red
to attract the audience and to show off our school colour, I added the school’s
slogan below the mast head to represent the school. The purpose of the magazine
is to inform the readers of what’s happening in their school so the magazine is
quite simple so that it’s easier to read and understand. The cover lines that
are added on to the magazine and the pages listed in the contents page were
chosen by the questionnaire the questionnaire showed that the readers would
like a story about prom and graduation in the magazine.
The magazine would not be sold to a particular media
institution since it’s a school magazine so the money made from the magazine
will go towards the school or the council. Since it’s a school magazine the
magazine would be targeted to the students that attend the school, the teachers
and even the parents who would like updates of what’s happening in the school.
The main image on my cover is of a prefect and the cover line about meeting our
new prefects and getting to know the sixth form may attract the teachers and
sixth form students to read the magazine, the cover line about revision and
prom and graduation may attract all students because they may want to learn
tips on revision or they may be curious as to how the Year 11 prom and
graduation was (parents may even be curious about the prom and graduation)
however they are the secondary audience for my college magazine.
From producing my magazine my photography skills was
resourceful for editing my images and composing my images using different shot
types on the DSLR camera. All images used in the school/ college magazine are
original images. I learned that patience is required when producing a magazine
as it takes a while for everything to come out as planned and playing around
with different tools and layouts on Photoshop is important to see what is
suitable for the target audience.

I used picture 3 for the cover page and picture 5 for the contents page because I believe that those photos suit the pages properly. The shot type and angle for the photo makes the photo look good for a cover and a contents page. The bottom two pictures from Prom and Graduation is used to support the cover line and is used in the contents page.
